Bezbaruah to head high-level committee on implementing constitutional guarantees of Assam Accord

Former bureaucrat M.P. Bezbaruah will head a nine-member high-level committee constituted by the Union government to look into the implementation of Clause 6 of the Assam Accord of 1985 that provides for constitutional guaranttes to protect the state's indegenous communities.

Odisha to participate as partner state in 'Indus Food 2019'

Odisha will participate as a partner state in the upcoming mega international food and beverage show 'Indus Food 2019'.

  • The Indus Food meet is a mega international food exposition organized at India Exposition Mart, Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh on January 14 and 15. The event is organized jointly by Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI) and Department of Commerce.


Govt allocates Rs 10,900 cr for development of 40 satellite launch vehicles in next 4-years: ISRO Chairman

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman Dr K Sivan said that the Union Government has allocated 10,900 crore rupees for the development of 40 satellite launch vehicles in the next four years.

  • Dr Sivan said that Chandrayan Mission will be launched within three months. It will land in one part of the Moon which is still unexplored. He also said that the human space flight Gaganyaan is planned to be launched by 2022, the 75th anniversary of Independence.

Nishikori, Pliskova win Brisbane International titles

World number nine Kei Nishikori defeated Daniil Medvedev of Russia in the summit clash to clinch the 2019 Brisbane International title (men).

  • Karolina Pliskova won her second Brisbane title (women), beating Lesia Tsurenko 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 after coming within just two points of defeat.

Manoj Das awarded the Kabi Samrat Upendra Bhanja National Award

Manoj Das, an eminent English and Odia writer, received the Kabi Samrat Upendra Bhanja National Award for Lifetime Achievement in Literature.

  • During the 53rd foundation day ceremony, the university also honoured noted folk dance guru Nabaghana Parida with Dakshin Odisha Loksanakruti Samman.

Rajya Sabha Vice Chairman launches 'A Crusade Against Corruption' book

Vice-Chairman of Rajya Sabha, Harivansh Narayan Singh launched Manohar Manoj's book "A Crusade against corruption".

  • Manoj has written this book after massive research and deep observations on the subject during the last 15 years and claimed that this is a kind of "Encyclopedic Snapshots on Corruption in India".
