Danish PM inaugurates cultural institute in India

In a bid to boost people-to-people ties and cultural exchanges, Danish Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen inaugurated a Danish Cultural Institute in New Delhi.

  • Headquartered in Denmark, the Danish Cultural Institute has been engaged in fostering mutual understanding between people and cultures since 1940.


Mauritius PM arrives on a visit to India

Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth arrived in India for a week-long official state visit. Jugnauth is scheduled to participate in the Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas 2019 in Varanasi.

Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurates TN Defence Industrial Corridor

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the Tamil Nadu Defence Industrial Corridor in the Tiruchirapalli district of Tamil Nadu, with various private and public sector industries announcing an investment of around Rs 3100 crores.

  • This will be the country's second defence industrial corridor after the first one was launched in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh August last year.


Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit concludes in Gandhinagar

Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit 2019 at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar concluded on 20th January. 75 member delegation of Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council participated in this Summit.

  • This year United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan & Morocco were the partner countries for 9th edition of Vibrant Gujarat.

  • President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the Vibrant Gujarat international investment summit as a key guest in a first Central Asian country to participate as a country partner in the flagship investment summit of Gujarat.


Delhi gets its first 24x7 animal health care hospital

In a first, an exclusive and certified veterinary hospital operating 24x7 was inaugurated at Tiz Hazari, New Delhi. The hospital will focus on issues such as birth control of monkeys, sterilisation of stray dogs, and cow shelter home.

  • An electronic chip system has been installed in the vicinity so that owners can identify their deserted pets hassle free.


Tripura unveils official logo for its tea



The Tripura government has unveiled an official logo for the state's tea to popularise the beverage and to promote the potentiality of tourism.

  • The logo features Tripura's iconic landmark, the "Neermahal" which is the largest and one-of-its-kind water palace in India.

  • The palace located around 53 km west of Agartala, was built by then Tripura King Bir Bikram Kishore Debbarman Manikya (1908-1947) in the middle of Rudrasagar Lake, as his summer residence.


Himachal to hold global investor summit in June

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that the state is making all-out efforts to attract investment and is holding a global investor summit in Dharamsala on June 10 and 11.

  • The summit would go a long way in attracting investment of thousands of crores of rupees in tourism, hospitality, resorts, pharmaceutical, information technology, health, herbal and ayurveda, horticulture, power, food processing, real estate and education sectors.


'Haryana Bhawan' to come up at 'Statue of Unity' in Gujarat

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar laid the foundation stone of "Haryana Bhawan" at the "Statue of Unity" complex in Kevadiya, Gujarat.

  • The four-storied structure will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 12 crore.

  • Probably Haryana is the first state of the country that has laid the foundation stone for the construction of its state house in this complex.

India to surpass United Kingdom in world's largest economy rankings in 2019: PwC

India is likely to surpass the United Kingdom in the world's largest economy rankings in 2019, to become world's fifth largest economy, according to a report by global consultancy firm PwC.

  • As per the report, while the UK and France have regularly switched places owing to similar levels of development and roughly equal populations, India's climb up the rankings is likely to be permanent.

Group insolvency: UK Sinha-headed working group to suggest suitable framework

The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) has set up a 11-member working group under the Chairmanship of former SEBI chief UK Sinha to go into the concept of ‘Group Insolvency’ and suggest a suitable framework.

  • This Working Group has been tasked to submit a report — within two months — recommending a complete regulatory framework to facilitate insolvency resolution and liquidation of corporate debtors in a Group.

Andry Rajoelina was sworn in as President of Madagascar. The oath-taking ceremony was attended by delegation from 35 countries and international organizations.
