Odisha Government Launched ‘Mo Bus’ Services



Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the technology-driven and citizen-friendly Mo bus service featuring free wi-fi, CCTV surveillance, public information display system and on board announcements in the city.

  • The state government-owned Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) sources said the 'Mo bus' service will cover nine routes in the state capital in the first phase. The bus service has been launched for the residents of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri.

  • The Phase-II of the bus service is scheduled to be launched from November 15 while the Phase-III will be rolled out on December 10.


Odisha CM launches 'Bhubaneswar Me Wi-Fi’ launched

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the much awaited 'Bhubaneswar Me WiFi' project to make Capital a fully Wifi enabled city ahead of World Cup Hockey. Implemented by the Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited, the 'Bhubaneswar Me WiFi' project will initially have 100 hotspots enabled locations with 275 access points. Gradually, the hotspot locations will be increased to 518 with 1,800 access points.

  • The internet speed in the city Wifi network will be 2mbps and each user will get 250mb free data a day under this facility.

Jeff Sessions steps down as US attorney general



US President Donald Trump said Attorney General Jeff Sessions' chief of staff, Matthew Whitaker, will be acting attorney general. It marked the first cabinet member exit from the Trump administration after the midterm elections.








BANKING & FINANCE


Centre to infuse Rs 3054 crore in Allahabad Bank

State-run Allahabad Bank said the Centre is infusing Rs 3,054 crore into it during the current fiscal. The lender's capital adequacy ratio as per Basel-III stood at 6.88 per cent by end of the first quarter of the current fiscal and the government owned a 71.81 per cent stake in Allahabad Bank at the end of first quarter of FY19.

India pledges contributions of $13.36 mn for UN agencies, development activities

India pledged contributions of $13.36 million for the various UN agencies and development activities. India's pledged contributions include $4.5 million to the UN Development Programme, $5 million to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Near East, $1.92 million to the World Food Programme.

  • About 19 countries pledged a total of $425.69 million at the Pledging Conference, reflecting an increase from the 2017 amount of $398.98 million.

India's economic growth to slow to 7.3% in 2019 as domestic demand tapers on higher borrowing cost: Moody's

The Indian economy will expand 7.4 per cent in 2018, but the growth will slow down to 7.3 per cent in the next year as domestic demand tapers on higher borrowing cost due to rising interest rates, Moody’s Investors Service said.

  • In its report titled ‘Global Macro Outlook 2019-20’, Moody’s said the economy grew 7.9 per cent in the first half (January-June) of 2018, which reflects post demonetisation base effect.

West Bengal To Observe 'Rosogolla Day' On November 14

The West Bengal government has decided to observe ‘Rosogolla Day’ on November 14, to commemorate the first anniversary of the State’s famous sweet getting Geographical Indication (GI) tag as ‘Bengal’s Rosogolla’.

  • Different varieties of rosogollas would be showcased in the stalls of the ‘Mishti Hub’ (sweetmeat hub), set up in one part of the Eco Park in New Town area.

  • The Eco Park is managed by the West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO), a State PSU.
