India-UAE Partnership Summit (IUPS) 2018 held in Dubai

India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) fortified their bilateral trade relations at the recently held India-UAE Partnership Summit 2018 (IUPS), which took place between 30th – 31st October at Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai.

  • The two-day event focused on the promotion of investments from UAE to India and India to UAE facilitating networking opportunities. The Summit also strengthened the relations between the two countries and its people and provided information on policy frameworks of governments.


NGT forms committee to examine waste dumping near Polavaram project

The National Green Tribunal has ordered a four-member committee to conduct an inspection near the Polavaram dam in Andhra Pradesh and submit a report after a plea alleged that muck was being dumped illegally at the site.

  • A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel constituted a committee comprising representatives of the Central Pollution Control Board, additional principal chief conservator of forests, the State Pollution Control Board and the district magistrate to give a report on the factual aspects.

Delhi government, Indian Railways partnered for Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Yojana

The Delhi Government along with the Indian Railways launched a scheme named 'Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Yojana' to give free tourism package for senior citizens traveling to 5 religious circuits.

  • The MOU was signed by Delhi Tourism & Transportation Development Corporation Ltd., Delhi government and Indian Railways and Catering Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia at the Delhi Secretariat in New Delhi.

  • The destinations will include Vaishno Devi, Haridwar, Amritsar, Ajmer, Agra, and would commence on December 2018.

Marquez Wins Malaysian MotoGP



World champion Marc Marquez won the Malaysian MotoGP surging past Valentino Rossi who crashed out when leading. Suzuki's Alex Rins came in second after overtaking Yamaha rider Johann Zarco, who finished third, in the final stage of the race at Sepang, Malaysia.

RBL Bank appoints Vikas Muttoo as CEO of Swadhaar Finserve

RBL Bank, one of India's fastest growing banks, announced the appointment of Vikas Muttoo as Chief Executive Officer for its wholly owned subsidiary Swadhaar Finserve. Vikas joins Swadhaar Finserve from Bharat Financial where he was the Chief Business Officer. 

  • Vikas has been previously associated with ANZ Grindlays, Standard Chartered, ABN AMRO, and RBS in domestic and international markets.

Malayalam writer Mukundan selected for Ezhuthachan award

Noted Malayalam writer M Mukundan has been selected for this year's Ezhuthachan Puraskaram, the highest literacy prize of the Kerala government, for 2018. The award is being given for his overall contributions to the language and literature.

  • Cultural minister AK Balan announced the award in Thiruvananthapuram. The award carries a cash prize of Rs five lakh and citation.

A.R. Rahman's Biography 'Notes of a Dream' launched



Oscar-winning musician AR Rahman released his biography, Notes of a Dream: The Authorized Biography of AR Rahman, in Mumbai.
Written by author Krishna Trilok, the book is in association with Landmark and Penguin Random House.
