Nepal: 3 educational institutions set up by India inaugurated

Three educational institutions that have been built by India were inaugurated in Nepal. The Shree Saraswati Tika Higher Secondary School has been built with an Indian assistance of 37.10 million Nepalese Rupees.

  • Shree Laxmi Adarsha Multiple Campus was also inaugrated in Lekhnath and the Shree Gupteshwor Mahadev Multiple Campus in Pokhara. India has given 48.40 million Nepali Rupees and 41.10 million Nepali Rupees respectively towards the institutes.


Tribunal set up to decide on ban on two Tripura militant groups

The Centre has set up a tribunal, headed by Delhi High Court Judge Justice Suresh Kait, for adjudicating whether or not two Tripura-based militant outfits should be declared banned organisations under the law.

  • The decision has been taken by the Home Ministry exercising the powers conferred under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

  • A fresh ban of five years were imposed on the two insurgent groups of Tripura by the central government last month for their "violent and subversive activities", which aim at establishment of an independent nation by secession of Tripura from India through armed struggle.


Government to pay employers 7-weeks maternity leave given to staff

The government will give employers the salaries for 7 of the 26 weeks of maternity leave for women earning more than Rs 15,000 a month, the Women and Child Development ministry announced.

  • The announcement, which covers the government as well as the private sector, comes in the wake of complaints that many companies were reluctant hire pregnant women after maternity leave was extended from 12 to 26 weeks and some were even firing women employees.


Govt to set up Animation, Gaming & Visual effects Institute in Mumbai to encourage youth participation in field of film & cinematography

The government will set up Animation, Gaming and Visual effects Institute in Mumbai to encourage youth participation in the field of film and cinematography. Information and Broadcasting Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore said, the government is taking several steps to nourish the talent of the youth of the country.

  • Talking about the India International Film Festival, which begins in Goa, the Minister said, it is a platform for marketing cinematographic products and promoting India and Indian films in the International arena.

China builds an 'artificial sun' that is 6 times hotter than our 'natural sun'

A team of scientists from Chengdu's Micro Research Electronics System Research Institute (CASC) in China had developed an "artificial sun" eight times brighter than the natural sun to replace the country's streetlights by 2020.

  • A team from the Hefei Physical Science Institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has announced that its Experimental Superconducting Tokamak Experimental Reactor (EAST) has reached a new temperature of 100 million degrees Celsius.

  • EAST has been called an "artificial sun" because it reproduces the process the sun uses to produce energy. It burns at 100 million degrees Celsius, which is six times warmer than the heart of the sun. The central temperature of the sun is about 15 million degrees Celsius. The state-of-the-art reactor is designed to turn hydrogen into profitable green energy.

Twins of Ireland cricket team, Isobel Joyce and Cecelia Joyce, have announced their retirement from the international cricket following their eight-wicket loss at the hands of New Zealand in their final Group stage match in the ongoing International Cricket Council (ICC) Women's World T20.

AYUSH Ministry celebrating first Naturopathy Day

The AYUSH Ministry is celebrating its first Naturopathy Day across the country on 18 November. The Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy is organising health camps, workshops and exhibitions in association with local naturopathy centres and hospitals.

  • Inaugurating the first Naturopathy Day Programme in New Delhi, AYUSH Minister Shripad Yesso Naik said, his ministry is introducing several schemes to expand the Naturopathy treatment.

  • More than 1,000 Naturopathy specialist doctors from all over the country participated in the event, which was organised by International Naturopathy Organisation in association with Ministry of Ayush.
