First printing press heritage gallery opened by Railway's The Western Railway General Stores Depot (GSD) has become the first in Indian Railways to opened a heritage gallery of the printing and allied machines used in the Western Railway Printing Press since (1948) at Mahalaxmi in Mumbai. Arunachal CM launches tree plantation programme Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh launched the statewide tree plantation programme ‘Clean-Green Arunachal Campaign 2019’ in Itanagar. Under this campaign State Forest department had planted 1-lakh tree saplings in 24 hours. Goa Government to start water taxi services soon In a first, the Goa government is planning to ply ‘water taxis’ in its inland waterways, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced.
  • He also said ferry boats operating on solar power would be introduced on different routes. Water taxis will be introduced for Panaji to Old Goa route with the help of experts.

Tamil Nadu girl wins gold medal in World Deaf Youth Badminton Championship Tamil Nadu girl Jerlin Anika has won the gold medal in the World Deaf Youth Badminton Championships held in Taipei.
  • Anika bagged four medals in the championship, including the gold, two silver and one bronze.
Mary Kom wins gold at President's Cup Six-time world champion boxer Mary Kom clinched the gold medal in the 23rd President's Cup in 51Kg category in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia. Chandigarh gets BCCI affiliation Chandigarh received affiliation from the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) after nearly four decades.
  • After getting BCCI affiliation, Chandigarh Cricket Association-Punjab had recently decided to merge with Union Territory Cricket Association, thus paving way for the Union Territory to be recognised as a separate entity.
Tokyo Olympics 2020 to have Table Tennis mixed doubles For the first time in the Olympic Games' history, men and women will compete together in a new Table Tennis mixed doubles event in Tokyo 2020. The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games said this on its Twitter handle. Max Verstappen wins German Grand Prix 2019 Red Bull's driver Max Verstappen clinched the rain-hit German Grand Prix at Hockenheim.

IPS officer VK Johri appointed as next BSF DG Senior IPS officer VK Johri has been appointed the next Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF), the government has announced. He will succeed Rajni Kant Misra who retires on August 31.

Sudarsan Pattnaik wins People's Choice Prize at Boston International Sand Art Championship Renowned sand artist Sudarshan Pattnaik has added another feather to his cap by bagging People's Choice Prize at the Boston International Sand Art Championship in Boston, USA.
  • Pattnaik sculpted his sand art based on the global issue of plastic pollution with a message inscribed "Save our Ocean", which fetched him the award.

Former Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy passes away Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader S Jaipal Reddy has passed away. He served as a Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting in the IK Gujral cabinet in 1998. Russi Taylor, Minnie Mouse voice actor, passes away at 75 The voice behind famed Minnie Mouse character, Russi Taylor (American voice actress) passed away in Glendale, California. For more than 30 years, Minnie and Russi worked together to entertain millions around the world -- a partnership that made Minnie a global icon and Russi a Disney Legend beloved by fans everywhere.
