India's 1st floating LNG storage & regasification unit arrives in MaharashtraIndia’s first Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) has arrived at H-Energy’s Jaigarh Terminal in Maharashtra. The FSRU Höegh Giant, which sailed from Keppel Shipyard, Singapore, was berthed at Jaigarh terminal in Maharashtra.
- This will also be the first year-round Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal in Maharashtra.
- The LNG terminal is located at JSW Jaigarh Port in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra, on the west coast of India. The port is the first deep water, 24x7 operational private port in Maharashtra.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 6th edition of the Raisina Dialogue. President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame and Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen were also join the Inaugural Session as chief guests.
- The theme for the 2021 Edition is "#ViralWorld: Outbreaks, Outliers and Out of Control". Over the course of four days, the Dialogue, will have panel conversations on five thematic pillars - WHOse Multilateralism? Reconstructing the UN and Beyond; Securing and Diversifying Supply Chains; Global 'Public Bads': Holding Actors and Nations to Account; Infodemic: Navigating a 'No-Truth' World in the Age of Big Brother; The Green Stimulus: Investing in Gender, Growth, and Development.
- The 2021 edition will have 50 sessions with the participation of 150 speakers from 50 countries and multilateral organisations. More than 2000 attendees have pre-registered from over 80 countries and a large number of participants are likely to join the Dialogue through various social media platforms.
Union Agriculture Ministry has signed an MoU with Microsoft for a pilot project in 100 villages of six states.
- This project will carry out various tasks for the betterment of farmers in the selected villages, which will enhance their income. This will also reduce the input costs for farmers and make farming easy.
- These states are Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh.
- Microsoft will develop farmer interface for smart and well-organized agriculture, including post-harvest management and distribution.
Government has launched Aahaar Kranti, a mission dedicated to spread awareness about nutrition. Aahaar Kranti has been launched with the motto of Uttam Aahaar- Uttam Vichaar or Good Diet-Good Cognition.
- It is designed to address the peculiar problem of hunger and diseases in abundance, being faced by India and the world.
- The movement proposes to address the problem by working to rouse the people to the values and richness of India’s traditional diet, to the healing powers of local fruits and vegetables and to the miracles of a balanced diet.
Atal Innovation Mission and NITI Aayog signed an agreement with Dassault Systemes Foundation to jointly work towards providing a digitally rich ecosystem of Innovation among aspiring young minds across the country.
- The Atal Tinkering Labs has played a pivotal role in fostering creativity and imagination amongst school children.
- Under this agreement, Dassault Systemes Fondation will design and organise innovative challenges, hackathons for Atal Tinkering Labs, promoting problem solving skills and innovation culture amongst students and teachers.

Pakistan Skipper Babar Azam replaces Indian Captain Virat Kohli as World No-1 batsman in ICC Men's ODI RankingsIn the International Cricket Council's (ICC) rankings for ODI batsmen, Pakistan Captain Babar Azam has climbed to the No.1 spot. Azam replaced his Indian counterpart Virat Kohli, who was occupying the top position for nearly three and a half years.
- He is the fourth player from Pakistan to top the ODI batting rankings after Zaheer Abbas, Javed Miandad, and Mohammad Yousuf.
- Rohit Sharma with 825 points is the only other Indian player who has featured in the latest top 10 batting chart.
- Among bowlers, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has held on to his fourth position behind top-ranked Trent Boult of New Zealand, Afghanistan's Mujeeb Ur Rahman and another Kiwi pacer Matt Henry.
- R Ashwin is the lone Indian to find a place in the top 10 all-rounders' list at the No. 9 spot.

Siddharth Singh Longjam to replace Navin Agarwal as NADA DGIAS officer Siddharth Singh Longjam will take over as the National Anti-Doping Agency's Director General, succeeding Navin Agarwal who listed the creation of Athletes Biological Passport (ABP) for around 60 elite Indian sportspersons as one of the highlights of his tenure.
- Longjam is currently serving as joint secretary in the sports ministry and is also the CEO of the currently suspended National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL).

Seville to be host city for Laureus World Sports Awards 2021The Spanish city of Seville will host the 22nd Laureus World Sports Awards on May 6 in a virtual ceremony owing to the raging COVID-19 pandemic.
- The winners of Laureus World Sports Awards are selected by a jury comprising 69 members of the Laureus World Sports Academy.
- The last was in Barcelona in 2007, which is a long time.
India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who scalped 10 wickets in the the white-ball matches against England, has been named the ICC Men's Player of the Month for March 2021.
- In the women's category, South Africa's Lizelle Lee who played 4 ODIs against India and scored a hundred and two half-centuries to move to the top of the ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings, was deservingly named the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for March 2021.
New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has been awarded the Sir Richard Hadlee medal for the fourth time in six years, while women's allrounder Amelia Kerr and rising star Devon Conway also claimed top honours at the New Zealand Cricket Awards for the 2020-21 season.
- In the women's category, Kerr won the Super Smash and the International T20 awards.
- Conway, meanwhile, was named the men's player of the year in both ODIs as well as T20Is.
- Finn Allen, the 21-year-old opener who recently made his international debut, was named the Super Smash Player of the Year in the men's category.
- Kyle Jamieson, a key member of New Zealand's Test attack, was given the Windsor Cup for first-class bowling, his first NZC award.

- It is a comprehensive, scalable, and national digital wellbeing platform and an app developed to augment mental well-being of Indian citizens.
- The application integrates the health and wellness efforts of various government ministries, scientifically validated indigenous tools with gamified interfaces developed by various national bodies and research institutions.
Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal inaugurated e-SANTA. e-SANTA is an electronic marketplace providing a platform to connect aqua farmers and buyers.
- e-SANTA will raise income, lifestyle, self-reliance, quality levels, traceability, and provide new options for aqua farmers.
- The platform will change the traditional way of carrying out business from a word of mouth basis to become more formalised & legally binding. It will act as an alternative marketing tool between farmers & buyers by eliminating middlemen.
NITI Aayog, in partnership with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Centre for Social and Behaviour Change, Ashoka University launched Poshan Gyan, a national digital repository on health and nutrition.
- The Poshan Gyan repository was conceptualized as a source. It enables the search of communication materials on 14 thematic areas of health and nutrition across diverse media types, languages, target audiences, and sources.

3,000-year-old ‘lost golden city’ of ancient Egypt discoveredA 3000-year-old “lost golden city” from the era of 18th-dynasty king Amenhotep III, who ruled ancient Egypt from 1391 to 1353 B.C., was found in the southern province of Luxor, near some of the country's best-known monuments.
- The newly discovered city is located on the west bank of the Nile river, close to the Colossi of Memnon, Medinet Habu and the Ramesseum, or mortuary temple of King Ramses II, all of which are popular tourist destinations.
OBITUARIES
Hockey Player Balbir Singh Junior passes awayBalbir Singh Junior, a member of the silver medal-winning 1958 Asian Games Indian hockey team passed away. He was 88.
- Singh also known as the nursery of hockey players in India, was first selected to play for the Indian hockey team in 1951.
- In 1962, he joined the Army as an emergency commissioned officer. He played for the Services hockey team in the national tournaments at Delhi. Singh retired as a Major in 1984 and later settled in Chandigarh.
Simon Marandi, founder member of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Senior BJP leader died at Netaji Hospital in Kolkata due to cardiac problems.
- Mr Marandi has been a two-time MP from Rajmahal constituency, five-time MLA and Minister of State in Jharkhand.

The International Turban Day is celebrated every year on April 13 to bring awareness of the strict requirement on Sikhs to put the turban as a mandatory part of their religion.
- The 2021 Turban Day marks the 552nd birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev and the festival of Baisakhi.
- The turban, also known as “dastar” or “pagri” or “pag” refer to the garment worn by both men and some women to cover their heads.
World Chagas Disease Day is celebrated on April 14 to raise awareness around chagas disease.
- The day was named after Carlos Ribeiro Justiniano Chagas, the Brazilian doctor who diagnosed the first case on 14 April 1909.
The Jallianwala Bagh massacre, in which several hundreds of people were killed on this day in 1919 as a result of indiscriminate firing by the colonial forces, completed 102 years on April 13,2021.
- The Jallianwalabagh garden has been converted into a memorial. And thousands of people on this day come to pay their respects to the martyred men, women, who were killed on that fateful day for the nation.
