Centre to set up Raksha Shakti University to train people for policingThe Centre is going to set up a central university to train people for policing, Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah announced. He added that affiliated colleges would be opened in the states where there is no policy university.
- He said the students who pass out of this University will not need any training to become good police officers. And also the University of Forensic Sciences will be set up soon added the Home Minister.
With 350 Indians killed and 540 injured in 748 terrorist incidents in 2018, India is at seventh place in a global think tank’s list of countries most affected by terrorism.
- The annual report by the Sydney-based Institute for Economics and Peace states that the country most affected by terrorism in 2018 was Afghanistan (7,379 killed), displacing Iraq (1,054 killed) as the deadliest country.
ISRO has transferred its indigenous technology to produce space-grade Li-Ion cells to Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). BHEL can also produce and sell Li-Ion cells for meeting other national/commercial applications by suitably modifying the space-grade cell which can lead to cost reduction.

National University of Singapore tops QS World University Asia Rankings 2020, NTU in 2nd placeFor the second consecutive year, the National University of Singapore was named Asia's top university according to the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Asia Rankings 2020. Its compatriot Nanyang Technological University rose to second, displacing the University of Hong Kong (third).
- India saw 96 universities, including 20 new entries, make the list but none placed among the top 30. The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is the top performer, placing 34th regionally.
BANKING & FINANCE
Merger of three RRBs to form Baroda UP BankThe government has notified amalgamation of regional rural public sector banks — Baroda Uttar Pradesh Grameen Bank, Kashi Gomti Samyut Gramin Bank and Purvanchal Bank — into a single regional rural bank, Baroda UP Bank.
- Its headquarters will be in Gorakhpur under sponsorship of Bank of Baroda, as per the notification.
Microfinance institution CreditAccess Grameen (CAGL) will acquire 100 per cent stake in Chennai-based Madura Micro Finance (MMFL) in a two-step process for Rs 876 crore.
- In the first leg, Bengaluru-headquartered CAGL will acquire up to 76.2 per cent stake for Rs 666.4 crore in MMFL from its existing shareholders for cash and in the second stage, MMFL shall be merged into CAGL through a scheme of arrangement.

Centre's fiscal deficit to be about 3.7% in FY20: Moody'sRatings agency Moody's Investors Service has projected Centre's fiscal deficit to be about 3.7% of the gross domestic product (GDP) in 2019-20, which will be slightly wider than the 3.4% posted in fiscal 2019.
- The government has kept a fiscal deficit target of 3.3% of the GDP for 2019-20.
Zurich Airport International AG has been selected as the concessionaire for developing the Noida International Airport at Jewar in Uttar Pradesh.
- The Switzerland-headquartered company made the highest per-passenger bid for the airport, outbidding competitors like Delhi International Airport Ltd, Adani Enterprises and Anchorage Infrastructure Investments Holdings Ltd.

Steve Smith breaks 73-year-old record, becomes fastest to 7000 runs in TestsAustralia batsman Steve Smith became the fastest to register 7,000 runs in the longest format of the game.
- Smith reached 7000 runs in just his 126th innings, and with this feat, he has surpassed England's Wally Hammond who had scored these runs in 131 innings.
Abhishek Verma and Jyothi Surekha Vennam claimed the gold in compound mixed pair event at the 21st Asian Archery Championships, which ended in Bangkok, Thailand.
- The Indians defeated Chinese Taipei opponents Yi-Hsuan Chen and Chieh-Luh Chen 158-151 in the final clash.
Sports Ministry has constituted a 13-member expert committee to review the Draft National Sports Code. The expert committee will be headed by former Supreme Court judge Justice Mukundakam Sharma.
- The panel has been formed to suggest measures to make the Sports Code acceptable to all the stakeholders. It will try to strike a balance between the autonomy of National Sports Federations vis-a-vis need for transparency and autonomy.

DRDO chairman G Satheesh Reddy awarded honorary fellowship by UK's Royal Aeronautical SocietyDefence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) chairman G Satheesh Reddy was awarded the honorary fellowship by the Royal Aeronautical Society of United Kingdom.
- The aeronautical society recognised contributions of Reddy towards indigenous design, development and deployment of diversified missile systems, aerospace vehicles, guided weapons and avionics technologies in India.
‘Particles’ directed by Blaise Harrison and produced by Estelle Fialon has won the coveted Golden Peacock Award at the 50th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), which concluded in Goa on November 28, 2019.
- The Golden Peacock Award carries a cash prize of Rs 40 lakhs to be shared equally between the Director and the Producer, Trophy and the citation.
- ‘Particles’ is an “ambitious yet modest film about the mysteries of being a teenager,”.

Former Japanese Prime Minister Yasuhiro Nakasone passes awayJapan's former Prime Minister Yasuhiro Nakasone has passed away. He was 101-year-old. He was best known for his close relationship with US President Ronald Reagan, popularly called the "Ron-Yasu" friendship.
Renowned cartoonist Sudhir Dar passes away
Renowned cartoonist Sudhir Dar whose works graced several newspapers in a career spanning 58 years, passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 87.
