Mauritius PM Pravind Jugnauth arrives in India for a private visit
Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, the Prime Minister of Mauritius since 2017, has arrived in India on a private visit. This is his fourth visit to India.
  • Jugnauth, is set to meet his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi, as both countries seek to take their ties to the next level amid the island nation’s increasing role in the Indian Ocean Region.
Govt implementing ICDS for develp of children of 0-6 yrs group
Union Minister Smriti Irani said that, the Centre is implementing an umbrella Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme for holistic development of children in the age group of 0-6 years, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers.
  • Ministry of Women and Child Development is also implementing an umbrella scheme mission for protection and empowerment of women as a centrally sponsored scheme to channelise holistic efforts for empowerment of women both economically and socially.
Over 400 Eklavya Model schools in tribal areas by 2022: PM Modi

In an effort to provide affordable and quality education facilities to children in tribal areas, the Narendra Modi led government has decided to build 400 Eklavya Model residential schools across the country in the next three years. 

  • These schools are also being developed to provide them with modern sports facilities.

Mahua Milan of East Central Railway became 5500th railway station of the country where free public Wi-Fi, Railwire.
  • To transform the railway stations into the hub of digital inclusion, Indian Railways mandated RailTel, to provide free high-speed Wi-Fi at the Railway stations.
Centre releases list of 10 best Police Stations, Aberdeen in Andaman and Nicobar tops list
The Centre released the list of 10 best police stations across the country with Aberdeen Police Station in Andaman district of Andaman and Nicobar grabbing the first position.
  • Balasinor in Mahisagar (Gujarat), Ajk Burhanpu in Burhanpur (Madhya Pradesh), AWPS Theni in Theni (Tamil Nadu), Anini in Dibang Valley (Arunachal Pradesh), Baba Haridas Nagar, Dwarka in South West District (Delhi), Bakani in Jhalawar (Rajasthan), Choppadandi (M) in Karimnagar (Telangana), Bicholim in North Goa (Goa) and Bargawa in Sheopur (Madhya Pradesh) police station grabbed the second to tenth position in consecutive order.

IEPFA signs MOU with Bank of Baroda for Investor Awareness
Investor Education & Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA) signed a MOU with Bank of Baroda for Investor awareness.
  • The objective of the MoU to work towards the creation of content (IEC material) and strategic use of all available marketing channels and brand assets with BoB viz.
NTPC signs pact for Rs. 5,000 crores with SBI
National Thermal Power Corporation Limited has signed a term loan agreement for Rs. 5,000 crore with State Bank of India. The loan facility has been extended at an interest rate linked to 3 Months MCLR of the bank and has a door to door tenure of 15 years. The loan will be utilised to part finance the capital expenditure of NTPC.

Kiren Rijiju names Ripu Bevli 'Plogging Ambassador of India' at 50th Fit India Plogging Run
Minister of State(I/C) for Youth Affairs & Sports, Shri Kiren Rijiju felicitated Ripu Daman Bevli, popularly known as the Plogman of India and named him the Plogging Ambassador of India during the event conclusion programme 'Fit India Plogging Run' in Delhi’s Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium. APPOINTMENTS

K Vijay Kumar appointed as senior security advisor in MHA
A 1975 batch officer, K Vijay Kumar appointed as the new senior security advisor in the Ministry of Home Affairs for Jammu and Kashmir and left-wing extremism affected states for a period of one year.
  • Kumar was earlier one of the five advisors to former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik.

National Mission for Clean Ganga awarded at the 20th GeoSmart India Conference in Hyderabad
India's largest geospatial event, 20th edition of GeoSmart India was held in Hyderabad, Telangana.
  • National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) was given the 'Leadership in Rejuvenation and Protection of Fresh Water Systems in India' award for its transformative initiatives in the water sector.


OBITUARIES

Former India TT coach Bhawani Mukherji passes away
Former India Table tennis head coach Bhawani Mukherji paased away. He was 68. Mukherji, who was bestowed with the Dronacharya Award in 2012, thus becoming the first coach to earn the recognition in table tennis..
  • He was the head coach at NIS Patiala and became the head coach of the national team for a brief period after the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
