Military Literature Festival 2018 begins in Chandigarh
The three-day Military Literature Festival (MLF) 2018, kick-started in Chandigarh. The festival is a joint initiative of military historian and Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore.
- Open to one and all sans entry fee, MLF 2018 aims to offer an opportunity for the younger generation to get acquainted with India's glorious military heritage, while also bringing a host of cultural activities, food cuisines and competitions to the public.
India Claims Top Ten Of World's Fastest-Growing Cities, Surat Leads
Surat, renowned as a diamond processing and trading hub in Gujarat, would be the world's fastest growing city in the 2019-35 period, averaging more than 9 per cent, according to a global economic research report. The report prepared by Oxford Economics. It further said all the top ten fastest-growing cities in the world in 2019-35 will be from India.
- Besides Surat, the other nine cities are Agra, Bengaluru Hyderabad, Nagpur, Tiruppur, Rajkot, Tiruchirappalli, Chennai and Vijayawada.

FAO approves 2023 as International Year of Millets
The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) has approved India's proposal to observe an International Year of Millets in 2023, Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said in New Delhi. Singh had made the demand in August this year, which has been accepted by the ongoing FAO Council in Rome.
- Millets consist of Jowar, Bajra, Ragi and minor millets, together termed as nutri-cereals.
- In addition, the Council also approved India's membership to the Executive Board of the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) for 2020 and 2021.

India inks pact with Iran to pay crude bill in rupee
India has signed an agreement with Iran to pay for crude oil it imports from the Persian Gulf nation in rupees. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed following the US letting India and seven other nations to keep buying Iranian oil despite sanctions were reimposed on the Islamic state on November 5.

Deadline for filing annual GST returns extended till March 31
The government has extended the last date of filing annual Goods and Services Tax (GST) returns by three months till March 31, 2019 providing much-needed relief to businesses struggling to comply with the year-end deadline.
- The competent authority has decided to extend the due date for filing Form GSTR-9, Form GSTR-9A and Form GSTR-9C till March 31, 2019.

Shubhankar clinches 2018 Asian Tour Order of Merit title
Shubhankar Sharma emerged as the 2018 Asian Tour Order of Merit champion following a dream season which saw him achieve many milestones and rewrite many Indian records. The 22-year-old Chandigarh-based Sharma now becomes the fifth and youngest Indian to top the Asian Tour money list in a particular season.
- Anirban Lahiri held the previous record of being the youngest Indian to be crowned Asia No. 1 when he bagged the honour in 2015.
Anushka, Chaitanya youngest winners at U.S. Kids Golf's first event in India
Golf in India took a major step towards the next level with the successful staging of the U.S. Kids Golf India Tours first event at the Jack Nicklaus designed Classic Golf and Country Club in Gurugram.
- The effort bore fruit as Anushka Gupta emerged champion in the U-7 girls' category. Chaitanya Gupta won among the U-7 boys.

Actress Janhvi Kapoor will be awarded 'Arets Stjerneskudd' rising talent of the year by the Norwegian Consulate General in Mumbai. Janhvi, who made her debut with "Dhadak", will be felicitated at an event organised in association with theatre chain INOX.

MP Asrar-ul-Haque Qasmi passed away
Maulana Asrar-ul-Haque Qasmi, noted Islamic scholar and Congress Lok Sabha MP from Bihar’s Kishanganj constituency, passed away. He was 76.
- Qasmi won the Kishanganj seat in 2009 General Elections by contesting on an Indian National Congress ticket after five consecutive failures.
