UNESCO’s ‘Historic Urban Landscape’ project for Gwalior, Orchha launchedIn Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior and Orchha cities have been selected by UNESCO under ‘Historic Urban Landscape Project’, which was started in the year 2011, for the inclusive and well-planned development of fast-growing historical cities while preserving the culture and heritage. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan virtually launched UNESCO’s ‘Historic Urban Landscape’ project for Gwalior and Orchha cities of the state through video conferencing.
- Chief Minister said that six cities of South Asia, including Ajmer and Varanasi in India are already involved in this project. Orchha and Gwalior have been included as the 7th and 8th cities. The development and management plan of these cities will be prepared by UNESCO.

Russia launches lab module to International Space StationRussia successfully launched a long-delayed lab module for the International Space Station that is intended to provide more room for scientific experiments and space for the crew.
- The 20-metric-ton (22-ton) module, named Nauka, is set to dock at the ISS in automatic mode on July 29
- The launch of Nauka, also called the Multipurpose Laboratory Module, had been repeatedly delayed because of technical problems. It was initially scheduled to go up in 2007.
World’s first 3D-printed steel bridge has been opened to the public in Amsterdam. It was developed by MX3D, a Dutch robotics company, in collaboration with a consortium of experts, and represents a major milestone for 3D-printing technology.
- The 12-metre-long steel structure will be a ‘living laboratory’ that will capture and transmit data on its health in real-time to show how it changes over its lifespan.
China has launched its long-planned national emissions-trading program—a system that would create the world’s largest carbon market and double the share of global emissions covered under such programs.
- The carbon market will help the country lower greenhouse-gas emissions and achieve its goal of reaching peak emissions before 2030 and carbon neutrality, or net zero emissions, by 2060.
- China is the world’s largest carbon emitter.
Leading European nation Sweden has ratified the framework agreement for the International Solar Alliance, an initiative of India aimed at promoting renewable energy and sustainable development.
- The ISA has been conceived as an action-oriented, member-driven, collaborative platform to increase the availability of solar energy technologies to enhance energy security and sustainable development.

Indian Bank signs MOU with IIT Guwahati TIC to fund start-upsIndian Bank signed the MoU with IIT Guwahati Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) for funding eligible Startups under the “IND SpringBoard” scheme of the Bank. Under this product, Indian Bank supports start-ups by extending credit facilities upto Rs.50 Crore for working capital requirements and also fund based term loan requirements for acquiring fixed assets for their unit. It is one of its kind in the North-Eastern part of India. Max Bupa rebrands itself as 'Niva Bupa'
Standalone health insurer Max Bupa Health Insurance, backed by private equity firm True North and Bupa, has rebranded itself to Niva Bupa Health Insurance.
- Max India, which owned 51 per cent in the insurer sold its stake to True North in February 2019 for Rs 510 crore. While the erstwhile promoters exited the venture, it was decided that the use of the “Max” brand will be phased out over a period of two years and replaced with a suitable name. The Bupa brand name, however, would continue as before.

Hockey India launches player-oriented web-based platform for playersHockey India has launched its own player-oriented web-based engagement platform, the 'Heroes Connect' in its bid to curate a detailed database of the players who have represented the country in both men and women's game.
- The unique responsive platform has been designed to encourage former and current Indian hockey players to initiate constructive discussions around the sport.
- All the former and current hockey players who have played for India can register their profiles on the platform verified by the national federation.

FinMin officer Rasmi R Das among 25 global experts appointed to UN tax committeeRasmi Ranjan Das, a Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, has been appointed as a member of the UN tax committee for the 2021 to 2025 term.
- Das is among the tax experts from around the world who has been appointed as a member of the UN tax committee.
- The committee, formally known as the UN Committee of Experts on International Cooperation in Tax Matters, guides countries’ efforts to advance stronger and more forward-looking tax policies adapted to the realities of globalised trade and investment, an increasingly digitalised economy and worsening environmental degradation.
Shiv Nadar, the founder of HCL Technologies Ltd, and its chief strategy officer, has tendered his resignation as managing director , as well as a director. Nadar will, however, continue to guide the company in the capacity of chairman emeritus and strategic adviser to the board for five years, the company said.
- C. Vijayakumar, president and chief executive officer, has been appointed as the managing director for five years.

Kajal Chakraborty wins Norman Borlaug National AwardThe Principal Scientist of Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI), Dr. Kajal Chakraborty, bagged the esteemed ‘Norman Borlaug National Award for Excellence in Agricultural Research’ by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) at the 93rd ICAR Foundation Day.

Kerala's oldest learner Bhageerathi Amma passes away at 107Kerala’s oldest learner, who passed a state literacy mission examination at the age of 105, passed away. Bhageerathi Amma was 107 and leaves behind the inspirational story of her passion to pursue learning.
- Bhageerathi was awarded the Centre’s Nari Shakti Puraskar in 2020 for her contribution towards women empowerment. That year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded her in a Mann Ki Baat episode saying: “She is a big source of inspiration and I pay respects to her.”
