Govt to set up Indian Institute of Heritage at NoidaThe government has decided to set up the Indian Institute of Heritage at Noida. This will impact higher education and research in the field of rich Indian heritage and its conservation, leading to Masters and Ph.D. courses in History of Arts, Conservation, Museology, Archival Studies, Archaeology, Preventive Conservation, Epigraphy and Numismatics, Manuscriptology as well as conservation training facilities to in-service employees and students of the institute. Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has said that his Ministry has constructed 13 thousand 327 kilometers of National Highways in 2020-21 which works out to about 37 kilometres per day. Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Narayan Rane has said that the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme has been launched for emergency credit line of up to 4.5 lakh crore rupees to MSMEs and the same is backed by 10 per cent Central Government guarantee. In a written reply in Lok Sabha, Mr. Rane said that 2.73 lakh crore rupees have been sanctioned under this scheme. Shravan Harela Festival celebrated in Uttarakhand
The people from the Kumaon region of the state of Uttarakhand and in some parts of Himachal Pradesh celebrate a Hindu festival named Harela every year.
- The Shravan Harela, celebrated in the Hindu calendar month of Shravan, marks the onset of the rainy season (Monsoon). In literal terms, Harela means "Day of Green". People from agriculture background consider it to be an auspicious day, as it is the day when they begin the sowing cycle in their fields. The festival is celebrated with prayers for good harvest and prosperity.
The Telangana government’s ambitious Chief Minister’s Dalit Empowerment Scheme, now christened ‘Telangana Dalit Bandhu,’ will be launched by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao in Huzurabad Assembly constituency of erstwhile Karimnagar district on a pilot basis. The purpose of Dalit Bandhu scheme is to improve their socio-economic status. Gujarat: Banas Dairy to install 50 MW solar plant to cut electricity cost of dairy by 25 per cent
After the success in milk production, Banas Dairy, the biggest milk cooperative in Asia has decided to set up a separate cooperative body to generate electricity on its own. The dairy located in Banaskantha district of North Gujarat will install a 50 MegaWatt (MW) solar plant that will help cut electricity cost of the dairy by 25 per cent. IBM and Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) - operator of Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (KIAB/BLR Airport) — announced a ten-year agreement under which IBM and Kyndryl will provide best of breed IT solutions to create a new “Airport in a Box" platform that will support transforming the end-to-end travel experience for passengers at BLR Airport.
- The new platform will also enable BIAL to improve employee productivity, better utilization of IT assets, reduce costs through streamlined inventory control and improved incident management.
In a major boost to Atmanirbhar Bharat and strengthening Army, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully flight tested indigenously developed low weight, fire and forget Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM).
- The missile was launched from a man-portable launcher integrated with thermal site and the target was mimicking a tank.
Defence Research and Development Organisation, DRDO successfully flight-tested the New Generation Akash Missile, a surface-to-air Missile from Integrated Test Range off the coast of Odisha. The missile system has been developed by Defence Research and Development Laboratory, Hyderabad in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories. IAF’s Sarang helicopter team all set to perform in Russian air show
The Sarang Helicopter Display Team of the Indian Air Force is all set to perform for the first time at the MAKS International Air Show held at Zhukovsky International Airport, Russia. The air show is scheduled from 20th July to 25 July this year.

Liverpool stripped of World Heritage statusLiverpool has been stripped of its World Heritage status after a UN committee found developments threatened the value of the city’s waterfront. UNESCO had previously warned that the developments, including the new Everton FC stadium, had resulted in a “serious deterioration” of the historic site.
- The city was awarded the much-coveted title in 2004 in recognition of its historical and architectural impact, joining places including the Taj Mahal, Egypt’s Pyramids and Canterbury Cathedral.
China has unveiled a high-speed maglev train with a designed top speed of 600 kms per hour. As per Chinese official media reports, it is stated to be the world’s fastest ground vehicle.
- The new maglev transportation system made its public debut in the coastal city of Qingdao, China’s east Shandong province.

Kotak Mahindra Bank has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Navy for salary accounts. The MoU enables the bank to offer its salary account proposition to all personnel of the Indian Navy—both serving and retired. The bank said it will also offer special salary account benefits to the Indian Navy. LIC launches Arogya Rakshak insurance plan
The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has introduced Arogya Rakshak, a non-linked, non-participating, regular premium, individual, health insurance plan.
- The plan provides fixed benefit health insurance cover against certain specified health risks. It provides timely support in case of medical emergencies and helps the insured and his family to remain financially independent in difficult times

Eswatini's King Mswati III appoints Cleopas Dlamini as new Prime MinisterEswatini’s King Mswati III appointed Cleopas Dlamini as the southern African nation’s new Prime Minister, the move coming after weeks of protests in a push for democracy.

Aramane Giridhar, an IAS officer of 1988-Batch, has been assigned the additional charge of the post of Chairman, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Giridhar will hold the position till any officer is appointed on a regular basis or until further orders. Giridhar is presently serving as Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).

Veteran theatre personality and litterateur Urmil Kumar Thapliyal passed away following a prolonged illness. The 78-year-old veteran had been suffering from intestinal cancer, his family sources said.
