Chhattisgarh launches 'Millet Mission' to become Millet hub of IndiaThe Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel launched the 'Millet Mission' and said the state will become the millet hub of the country in the future.
- He signed the MoU between the Indian Institute of Millet Research (IIMR), Hyderabad and the Collectors of 14 districts of the state including Kanker, Kondagaon, Bastar, Dantewada, Bijapur, Sukma, Narayanpur, Rajnandgaon, Kawardha, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Balrampur, Koriya, Surajpur and Jashpur.
- According to the MoU, IIMR of Hyderabad will provide support and guidance for increasing the productivity of Kodo, Kutki and Ragi, technical skills, availability of high-quality seeds and establishment of the seed bank in Chhattisgarh.
The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and the Indian Air Force have joined forces in their efforts to develop strong technologies in the field of Aerospace Technology, both academically and via research.
- The partnership's purpose is to build long-term relationships for academic and research-based exchanges and technical information exchange in order to stimulate knowledge growth and promote breakthrough breakthroughs in the field of Aerospace Technology.
Haryana has been adjudged first in the country in installation of off-grid solar pumps under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthan Mahaabhiyaan (PMKUSUM) with installation of 14,418 pumps against 15,000 sanctioned pumps for the year 2020-21.
- Under the scheme, standalone solar pumps of 3 HP to 10 HP capacity are being installed in the state with 75 percent subsidy. The Government of India is providing 30 percent central financial assistance and the State Government is providing 45 percent subsidy.
- The farmer has to pay only 25 percent of the total pump cost. These pumps can be installed by farmers, water user associations, community, cluster based irrigation systems etc. only for irrigation purposes.
Union minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said under the Jal Jeevan Mission, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government is working to ensure that every household in the country has a piped water connection by 2024.
- As many as 1,10,000 villages have achieved 100 per cent success in providing tap connections to households, Shekhawat said. Telangana, Gujarat, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra and Himachal Pradesh have achieved 80 per cent to 100 per cent of their targets under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
- Five crore tap water connections have been provided to households across states since the mission commenced in December 2019. The figure will soon cross 8 crore.
The Centre has decided to set up 7 new Ekalavya Vidyalayas in Assam. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said this after a meeting with Union Tribal Affairs minister Arjun Munda in Guwahati.
- The Ministry of Tribal Affairs would also set up 400 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras to promote tribal art and craft as well as to provide livelihood opportunities to the tribal population.
- Mr. Munda also presented the Van Dhan Award 2020-2021 to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.The Tribal Affairs Ministry has awarded the Van Dhan National Award 2021-22 to TRISSAM of Assam in the category of Collaborative Initiative for co branding in Van Dhan Yojana.
President Ram Nath Kovind laid the foundation stones for Uttar Pradesh National Law University and new building complex of Allahabad High Court in Prayagraj.
- The new Allahabad high court complex includes a multi-level parking facility, an advocate chamber library, and an auditorium. According to the Uttar Pradesh government, the building complex will have around 2,600 chambers for the lawyers of the court. Around 6,00 crore rupees have been released for the entire project.
The Union Cabinet approved the signing of an agreement between India and Portugal on the recruitment of Indian citizens to work in that European country.
- The agreement would set an institutional mechanism for partnership and cooperation between India and Portugal on sending and accepting Indian workers.
- Under this agreement, a joint committee will be set up to follow up the implementation of the same.

Amazon ties up with Kuvera, set to offer wealth management service for the first timeGlobal retail giant Amazon will offer wealth management services in India, a first for one of the world’s most valued companies. Its wholly owned subsidiary Amazon Pay has tied up with homegrown investment advisory services startup Kuvera to offer wealth management services to 50 million customers in India.
- Amazon Pay has established its place in payments and credits business in India. This move comes right after Google Pay declared offering fixed deposits to its Indian customers.

Bhupendra Patel sworn-in as new Chief Minister of GujaratFirst-time legislator Bhupendra Patel took oath as the 17th chief minister of Gujarat a day after his name was announced for the top job by the BJP leadership.
- Bhupendra Patel, who is a first time MLA from the Ghatlodia constituency in Ahmedabad, won the 2017 Gujarat assembly election with over 1.17 lakh votes. After his appointment as the chief minister, Bhupendra Patel is expected to lead Gujarat BJP into the upcoming 2022 Gujarat assembly elections.

Mumbai Teen Wins Global 'Young Eco-Hero' Award for Conservation Project on Powai LakeA 12-year-old environmental activist from Mumbai has been named as a 2021 International Young Eco-Hero in recognition of his efforts to solve tough environmental problems. Ayaan Shankta won the third place in the 8-14 age category for his project Conservation and Rehabilitation of Powai Lake.
- He is one of the 25 young environmental activists from across the globe honoured by the Action For Nature (AFN) as a 2021 International Young Eco-Hero, an award that recognizes eco-conscious youth aged 8 to 16 who are taking crucial steps to solve tough environmental problems.
- His project aims to raise awareness about pollution, clean up the lake, and protect its ecosystem. In addition to working with NGOs to raise awareness and organize clean-ups, Ayaan authored an action report on lake conditions and is currently working on a documentary about Powai Lake.

India's first Indigenously Designed High Ash Coal Gasification Based Methanol Production Plant at BHEL R&D Centre, HyderabadBharat Heavy Electricals Limited's (BHEL) research and development centre at Hyderabad successfully demonstrated India's first indigenously designed high ash coal gasification-based Methanol production plant.
- The project was funded by the Department of Science and Technology, which provided a Rs 10 crore grant, at the initiative of NITI Aayog, PMO-India and the Ministry of Coal.
- The facility can create 0.25 ton per day (TPD) Methanol from high ash Indian coal using a 1.2 TPD Fluidized bed gasifier.The purity of the crude methanol produced is between 98 and 99.5 per cent.
