India third country in organ donation and transplantation: ReportIndia now ranks third in the world in organ donation and transplantation as the total number of organ transplants done per year in the country has increased to 12,746 in the year 2019, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) Mansukh Mandaviya said.
- Mandaviya was citing a report by Global Observatory on Donation and Transplantation (GODT).
- The total number of organ transplants done per year in the country has increased from 4,990 in the year 2013 to 12,746 in the year 2019 and India now ranks third in the world only behind USA and China.
- Similarly, the organ donation rate has increased to about four times as compared to 2012-13. However, still facing a huge gap between the number of patients requiring transplantation and the number of people who consent to donate their organs after death. Further, the organ donation and transplantation activities have been negatively impacted due to Covid-19 pandemic which we hope to leave behind soon.
Madhya Pradesh Cabinet approved the proposal to create cyber tehsils, informed Home Minister Narottam Mishra, adding that the state will be the first across the country to do so.
- He also said that Cyber Tehsil will make the mutation process easy and people from anywhere in the state can avail of its benefit.
- With the introduction of this system, the process of conversion will become convenient in the cases of undisputed land.

India has made no progress on anaemia, childhood wasting: Global Nutrition ReportIndia has made no progress on anaemia and childhood wasting according to the 2021 Global Nutrition Report (GNR, 2021) released recently.
- The country featured among the 161 countries documented in the report as having made no progress or said to be worsening with regards to reducing anaemia.
- Over half of Indian women in the age group 15-49 years are anaemic, according to the report.
- There has been a rise in anaemic Indian women since 2016. In 2016, 52.6 per cent of Indian women were anaemic. But in 2020, 53 per cent were found to be anaemic.Over 17 per cent of Indian children under 5 years of age are affected. This figure is much higher than the average for Asia where close to 9 per cent children are affected.

MakeMyTrip to partner with civil aviation ministry to promote regional air connectivityOnline travel services firm MakeMyTrip said it will partner with the Ministry of Civil Aviation to promote regional air connectivity through the UDAN scheme.
- As the UDAN scheme completes four years of connecting major cities with regional hubs, MakeMyTrip will now power UDAN flights on the AirSewa portal and market them on its platform to promote its visibility and product discovery to provide air connectivity to underserved destinations.

India’s candidate Praveen Sinha elected to INTERPOL executive committeeIndia’s candidate, Praveen Sinha, Special Director of Central Bureau of Investigation was elected as Delegate for Asia on the Executive Committee of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL).
- Sources said this was a tough election, with India running against four other contestants for two posts. The four contestants were China, Singapore, South Korea and Jordan.
- The elections were held in Istanbul, Turkey during the ongoing 89th INTERPOL General Assembly.

Skyroot test fires India's first privately built cryogenic rocket engineSkyroot Aerospace, a Hyderabad-based space technology startup, has test fired India’s first privately developed fully cryogenic rocket engine, successfully demonstrating the technology that will power the upper stages of its upcoming Vikram-2 orbital launch vehicle.
- The rocket engine, named Dhawan-1 in honour of Indian rocket scientist Satish Dhawan, has been developed using 3D printing technology and is fuelled by liquefied natural gas and liquid oxygen—a high-performance, low-cost and clean rocket fuel.
- This is a completely ‘Made-in-India' cryogenic engine developed using 3D printing with a superalloy, reducing manufacturing time by more than 95%.

“Contested Lands: India, China and the Boundary Dispute” book by Maroof RazaA retired Indian Army officer, Mr Maroof Raza has released his new book titled “Contested Lands: India, China and the Boundary Dispute”.
- The book provides detailed understanding of the historical background and complexities of India’s borders with China. It has been published by Westland Non-fiction.
Army Chief Gen. Manoj Naravane released the book titled "Bangladesh Liberation@50 Years: Bijoy' with Synergy: India-Pakistan War 1971".
- The book is a mixture of historical and anecdotal accounts of the 1971 War and comprises authors from both India and Bangladesh, many who actually fought the war.
