Arunachal assembly adopts new logo

The Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly adopted a new logo, reflecting the distinct identity and culture of the state. The new logo consists of the national emblem and foxtail orchid (Rhynchostylis Retusa), the state flower.
  • The symbol of national emblem signifies the federal system of the Indian Constitution while the foxtail orchid represents the state, its people and culture as a whole, while the blue colour denotes the autonomy of the assembly secretariat.
Smriti Irani launches Yashaswini Scheme for Women entrepreneurship in Goa
Union Minister for Women and Child Development and Textiles, Smriti Irani launched Yashaswini Scheme for Women entrepreneurship in Goa. 
  • Swasthya Sakhi Project and breast cancer screening initiative were also inaugurated on the occasion.
  • Under Yashaswini scheme, women self-help groups will be given interest free loans of upto Rs Five lakh for business.
HM Amit Shah inaugurates VISWAS and Cyber Aashvast Projects in Gujarat
Union Home Minister Amit Shah digitally launched project VISHWAS and CYBER AASHVAST at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Vishwas is acronym for Video Integration and State Wide Advanced Security.
  • First of its kind project in the country, VISHWAS is a major e-governance initiative. The project aims at improving Law and Order Management, Proactive traffic management and control, Crime detection through video analytics and Post incident Investigation and video forensics.
  • To make cyber-space safe, Gujarat Police has brought the cyber-security solution to common man through Cyber AASHVAST Project, which is a helpline for cyber crime victims.
The Pulses Conclave 2020 to be held in Lonavala
India Pulses and Grains Association (IPGA), the nodal body for the country’s pulses trade and industry on announced that the 5th edition of “The Pulses Conclave 2020”, was be held in Lonavala, Maharashtra.
  • The conference aims at increasing exports, processing efficiencies, protein extraction, value addition and post-harvest management.
Wings India 2020 to be held in Hyderabad from March 12-15
Wings India 2020, an international exhibition and conference on civil aviation sector, will be held at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad from March 12 to 15.
  • The event will provide a fillip to the aviation and restructured focused forums will be instrumental in attaining the objective of connecting the buyers, sellers, investors and other stakeholders at a common forum.

Govt raises authorised capital of Indian Overseas Bank to Rs 25,000 crore
The Centre after consultation with the Reserve Bank of India has increased the authorised capital of Indian Overseas Bank from Rs 15,000 crore to Rs Rs 25,000 crore.

RBI places curbs on Bengaluru-based Sri Guru Raghavendra Sahakara Bank
After the Punjab & Maharashtra Co-operative (PMC) Bank fiasco, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has now placed restrictions on the withdrawal limit of another bank - this time, the Bengaluru-based Sri Guru Raghavendra Sahakara Bank. According to an RBI statement, the curbs were placed on January 10 for a period of six months.
  • Particularly, customers of the bank are now allowed to withdraw only up to Rs 35,000. The bank has also been prevented from issuing any new loans or advances or from making any new investments exceeding this amount.

PayU acquires PaySense for $185 mn in India's largest fintech acquisition deal
In India’s largest fintech acquisition deal, digital payments gateway provider PayU has acquired a controlling stake in Nexus Venture Partners-backed fintech start-up PaySense at a valuation of $185 million. As part of the transaction, PayU will merge it with its credit business LazyPay to build a full-stack digital lending platform in the country.

15-year-old Shafali Verma to receive best international debut honour at BCCI awards
Youngster Shafali Verma is all set to receive the best international debut for a woman player (2018-19) at the annual BCCI awards. Verma has so far played just T20Is for the Indian side. In the nine matches, the 15-year-old has scored 222 runs with the highest score of 73.
  • On the other hand, Mayank Agarwal will be given the best international debut (men) after scoring 872 runs in nine Test matches.
  • Smriti Mandhana and Jhulan Goswami will also be recognised for being the highest run-scorer and highest wicket-taker, respectively, in the 50-over format.
  • Jasprit Bumrah and Cheteshwar Pujara will be given Dilip Sardesai Award for being the highest wicket-taker and highest run-scorer, respectively, in the longest format of the game.
  • Shivam Dube will be given the Lala Amarnath award for being the best all-rounder in the Ranji Trophy for the 2018-19 season.
  • Dilip Doshi will be given BCCI's special award.

Veteran broadcaster, academic-poet Obaid Siddiqui passes away
Veteran broadcaster, poet and academician Obaid Siddiqui has passed away due to health related problems. Siddiqui, 63, was quite unwell due to multiple ailments and was undergoing treatment.
