Ajit Pawar launched a
mobile application designed to
provide all citizen-centric facilities at a single click to residents of Baramati town in Pune district.
- Digital Baramati Umbrella App is a collection of software programmes for various needs. It has local governance, administration and citizen-centric mobile applications, including those relating to telemedicine, property management, QR-code based asset management, GIS tagging and grievance redressal system.
CM Gehlot launches ‘Mukhyamantri Paryatan Udyog Sambal Yojana’

Ashok Gehlot launched
‘Mukhyamantri Paryatan Udyog Sambal Yojana-2021’ to provide
relief to the entrepreneurs of the tourism and hospitality sector affected by COVID-19 pandemic.
- Along with that the Chief Minister also launched a mobile app 'Rajasthan Tourism Official' designed to help tourists visiting Rajasthan in making their tour programmes.
- Beside this, the CM released a collection ofvarious policies, schemes and guidelines issued by the tourism department for tourism development in the state.
Delhi to Be Free of Air, Water and Noise Pollution in 3 Years, Says Union Minister Gadkari
The government will make the
national capital free of air, water and noise pollution in the next three years, Union minister Nitin Gadkari said.
- The road transport minister said that his ministry has spent Rs 60,000 crore on road infrastructure development — an effort that also helped in reducing air pollution in Delhi.
PM Modi chairs 38th PRAGATI meeting, reviews 8 projects worth Rs 50,000 cr
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the
38th PRAGATI meeting, the ICT (Information and Communication Technology) based multi-modal platform for pro-active governance and timely implementation, involving Centre and State governments.
- The official release by the Prime Minister's office informed that in the meeting, eight projects were reviewed.Four of these projects were from the Ministry of Railways, two from the Ministry of Power and one each from Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and Ministry of Civil Aviation.
- Having a cumulative cost of around Rs 50,000 crore, the projects pertain to seven states viz. Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Haryana.
Chacha Chaudhary Made Mascot for Namami Gange Programme

Chacha Chaudhary has been declared as the
mascot of the government's
Namami Gange Programme with an aim of bringing behavioural change among children towards the Ganga and other rivers.
- The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), which has been focusing on the youth as part of its outreach and public communications efforts as they are the impellers of change, has tied-up with Diamond Toons to develop and distribute comics, e-comics and animated videos.
Nagaland to Celebrate Hornbill Festival
With decline in COVID-19 cases, the
Nagaland government is gearing up to organise the
Hornbill festival this year from
December one.
- The Hornbill festival is an annual tourism promotional event of the Nagaland governmentorganized by the departments of Tourism and Art & Culture showcasing the rich Naga tradition and culture at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, about 12 km from the state capital.

India slips two spots to 59th on Digital Quality of Life index
India has
ranked 59 among 110 countries in the
Digital Quality of Life Index, according to a global study by the British Virgin Islands-based cybersecurity company
Surfshark.
- While India has witnessed a drop compared to last year — falling from 57th spot to 59th — it now ranks 17th in Asia and first in the South Asia region. Its its e-security has also improved and it now ranks 36th (was 57th in 2020), higher than China which ranks 72nd.According to the index, India ranks 67th on internet quality indicator.
- Denmark topped the index for the second year in a row, followed by South Korea and Finland, while the bottom five countries include Ethiopia, Cambodia, Cameroon, Guatemala, and Angola.
- The countries where the internet is least affordable are Nigeria, Côte D’Ivoire and Mali, where people are required to do approximately a week’s worth of work to afford the internet.

Suryoday Small Finance Bank shuts down its ATMs from Oct 1
Suryoday Small Finance Bank informed its customers that it will
shut down its automated teller machines
(ATMs).
- The bank said it will give users the option to use their debit card at ATMs of other banks. The lender will shut down its ATMs from October 1.

Amazon India announced the launch of
Amazon Future Engineer, its global computer science education programme, in India.
- According to the company, the programme will enable access to quality computer science education and career opportunities for students from underrepresented and underserved communities.
- In the first year of its launch, Amazon aims to enable and deliver learning opportunities to more than 1 lakh students from 900 government and aided schools across seven states in India.
Facebook Launches Creator Education Programme in India To Help Creators Grow
Facebook launched its
largest creator education and enablement programme in India to provide content creators on its platform and Instagram an opportunity to learn, earn and grow their communities.
- This is the next phase of the company’s ‘Born on Instagram’ program, which was launched in 2019, but will now enable creators across India to learn through a self-paced e-learning course. At the end of the course, they will receive a course completion letter as well.
- The program will provide live masterclasses with experts, latest information on trends, product updates and challenges to keep up with what’s unfolding on Instagram. Lastly, it will provide creators the option to unlock monetary opportunities through various rewards and brand partnerships.

Tokyo Olympics Star Birendra Lakra Quits International Hockey
Tokyo Olympic stars
Rupinder Pal, Birendra Lakra retire from international hockey. The defenders who shone as India's hockey team won bronze in the Tokyo Games in August, the first medal for the country after 41 years, ended their international career.
- Born in Faridkot, Rupinder, who made his international debut in 2010, scored four goals in India’s Tokyo 2020 medal win, the second highest scorer for the team after fellow drag-flicker Harmanpreet Singh.
- Born in Lachchada village in Odisha’s Sundergarh district, Lakra made his debut in 2012 in a Test series against South Africa, was part of the team that finished last in the 2012 London Games, was named the team’s joint vice-captain at Tokyo 2020 along with Harmanpreet before finishing with a total of 201 international caps.

- India’s Rudrankksh Patil claimed the silver medal in the men’s 10m air rifle competition.Ramita won bronze in the women’s 10m air rifle junior event with a total score of 229.1, even as the well-known Mehuli Ghosh finished fifth in the final and Nisha Kanwar eighth.
- This is the first multi-discipline event since the Tokyo Olympics, which will see participation from as many as 32 nations and nearly 370 athletes.
Boxing great Manny Pacquiao announces retirement

Manny Pacquiao has announced his
retirement from the sport as he shifts focus on becoming the next
Philippines President after he accepted his political party’s nomination and declared that that he will run for the top job in the May 2022 elections.
- Pacquiao finished his 26-year, 72-fight career with 62 wins, eight losses and two draws. Of those 62 wins, 39 were by knockout and 23 by decision. He won 12 world titles and is the only fighter in history to win titles in eight different weight classes.

Vinod Aggarwal appointed ASDC president

president.
- Aggarwal, who is currently the managing director and CEO of VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd (VECV), replaces Nikunj Sanghi, who will leave ASDC after serving it for four years.

Padmaja Chunduru appointed MD & CEO of NSDL

managing director and
chief executive officer. She will succeed
GV Nageswara Rao.
- Chunduru was earlier the MD and CEO of Indian Bank. Her three-year term ended in August.
Air Marshal Sandeep Singh Takes Charge as Vice Chief of IAF
Air Marshal Sandeep Singh took charge as the new
Vice Chief of the Indian Air Force.
- He succeeded Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, who became the 27th Chief of the Air Staff.
- An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Air Marshal Singh was commissioned in the flying branch of the IAF in December 1983, as a fighter pilot. The officer is an experimental test pilot and a qualified flying instructor. He has rich and diverse experience in operational and experimental test flying on various types of fighter aircraft. He has a flying experience of 4,400 hours.

LIFE wins Right Livelihood Award 2021
Delhi-based environmental organisation
Legal Initiative for Forest and Environment (LIFE) has received the
2021 Right Livelihood Award for its “grassroots approach of empowering vulnerable communities to protect their livelihoods and claim their right to a clean environment.” The award is known as
Sweden’s alternative Nobel Prize.
- Other awardees include Cameroonian women rights activist Marthe Wandou, Russian environmental activist Vladimir Slivyak, and Canadian Indigenous rights defender Freda Huson.
- The Right Livelihood Award honours and supports people solving global problems. It comes with a cash prize of 1 million Swedish crowns ($115,000) and long-term support to highlight and expand Laureates’ work.

England World Cup winner Roger Hunt passes away
England's World Cup-winning striker
Roger Hunt died at the age of 83 following a long illness, his former club said.
- Hunt who scored three goals during England's victorious World Cup campaign on home soil in 1966, was also Liverpool's record scorer with 285 goals in 492 appearances until Ian Rush broke the record in 1992.
- Under Bill Shankly, Hunt helped Liverpool win two league titles and their first FA Cup trophy in 1964-65 when he scored in the final against Leeds United. His tally of 244 league goals is still a club record.
